Nice, i had the same project idea several years ago. Was meant to called the unknown GTA 5 car or something. Did you found any references to the actual name? Or is it just your name you give?
@VSR Kevin Don't you know Dekurwinator's tutorials? He made one about vertex painting and what the channel does.It depends on what you trying to archive with the terrain. Normally you often paint it in a purplish color. Since your mesh isn't a actual terrain texture blending mesh, just import an R* made building model into your 3ds Max or Blender, and check it's vertex colors. The alpha channel is always red. There is also colors that affects if puddles get disabled ect.
